Working in Germany

 Consideration must be given to the length of the intended contract. If the initial contract is for more than 6 months then we have to ensure you become registered immediately in Germany. You would register as an independent worker in Germany. If we don’t do this from the outset it will be near impossible to recover your tax position in the future.

We have an associate German Accountancy Practice whom assist with local registration, tax related issues and the payment of all local and fiscal obligation whilst working in country. This is particularly helpful with the language and understanding of local and national authority regulations. They are happy to meet with you in person and assist with the registration procedure.

We can offer a full payroll service or Self-employed status.

The payroll service is provided in conjunction with our German associate whom provides assistance with local registration. They also make the calculation for taxes and social security and provide the monthly payslips for the net payment after all necessary deductions. All German taxes, social security and insurances will be accounted for by Gems, with the assistance of our German associate, and paid directly to the German authorities on a regular and timely manner. We will account to you for all earnings over the term of the contract with monthly pay slips and accounting schedules provided for your records.

Where possible you can register and remain Self-employed. By engaging the services of our German Associate they will arrange to assist with registration, the completion and to submit the year end tax return, all other local and fiscal obligations. Details of our associates will be made available upon agreement of our services.
